The Super Eagles of Nigeria had their first training session Tuesday at The Hive training ground of Barnet FC, London ahead of the coming international friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Head coach Gernot Rohr led 16 of the invited players in various light work and other drills under freezing conditions.

Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is the only goalkeeper at this point while new invitees Tyrone Ebuehi, Chidozie Awaziem and  Anthony Sarenren Bazee looked to be at home with the other lads, SuperSport reports.

Rohr limited the physical exercises for the likes of Leicester duo Ahmed Musa and Wilfred Ndidi, and Watford’s Isaac Success who have already had long sessions with the ball, while the rest of the squad were trained on ball-work.

The central-defensive pair of Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong remained as imposing as ever, with the coach limiting their exercises to drills with the ball.

Other players who took part in training were Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Moses Simon, Kenneth Omeruo, Kelechi Iheanacho and the skilful Alex Iwobi.

Chelsea’s Victor Moses will not be joining the squad as he’s been ruled out with injury, while the likes of FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Chippa United’s Daniel Akpeyi have been delayed over issuance of visa.

The Eagles take on Senegal’s Teranga Lions on Thursday before going up against the Stallions of Burkina Faso in a repeat of the Afcon 2013 final.
