The Ahmadu Bełlo University, ABU, Zaria on Thursday said it would not release any information on the controversy surrounding the degree certificate of Senator Dino Melaye until formally requested by the Senate.
According to PREMIUM TIMES, Adamu Mohammed, the director of publicity of the university, said that the management of the institution held a marathon meeting on the issue on Wednesday, but refused to disclose its outcome.
“The management has decided not to address journalists on the alleged certificate issue since a committee has been set up to investigate the matter by the Senate of the Federal Republic Nigeria.
“As such, we will await request by any relevant authority, then we would respond accordingly,” he said.
Melaye had claimed that he obtained seven degrees from several institutions, including Harvard and London School of Economics.
The certificate scandal began, when reports went rife that Dino dropped out after failing to meet the requirements to graduate from the Department of Geography, Ahmadu Bello University, where he claimed to have gotten three degrees.
