Arsenal have revealed that any decision regarding the future of Arsene Wenger will be ‘mutual’, while claiming that the board have the ‘long-term interests’ of the club at ‘heart’.
The Gunners have made the headlines for several wrong reasons in recent weeks, one of which is the future of Arsene Wenger at the Emirates. The Frenchman has stalled on renewing his contract the club where he has spent over two decades despite reports that the board offered him a two-year-deal to remain at the club.
Following reports that Arsenal might finally witness a change in manager, the club chairman Sir Chips Keswick has told Arsenal’s official website: ‘We are fully aware of the attention currently focused on the club and understand the debate,
‘We respect that fans are entitled to their different individual opinions but we will always run this great football club with its best long-term interests at heart.
‘Arsene has a contract until the end of the season. Any decisions will be made by us mutually and communicated at the right time in the right way.’
This comes after Arsene Wenger admitted that the fans influence could play a vital role in his final decision over his future at the club.
When asked about the fans protest about his reign at the club, the Frenchman said: ‘Yes, of course. You consider everything.
‘It might not be the most important factor, but you consider it, of course.
‘My decision is to focus on the next game and to make absolutely sure we respond well on Saturday.’
